It was a wonderful day –  I have requested a time slot to share this info at out PD day next Monday. And I have arranged to share this with the parents who come in to help with our reading programme.

I used the ……’what you already know’ concept when I introduced the Greek Heroes and had a most intimate and extraordinary sharing with the class last Thursday morning..’What was a hero …who was their hero etc…. it was fabulous.

Thanks again …. I would love to have a refresher anytime. And thanks for all the material.

Cheers teacher

Our head teachers have accepted it as one the best PDs they had that let them view classroom practice from a different perspective. As you learn further about the latest research, you realize that everything is being ticked off and already covered. If you are after an ‘All in one’ growth package, EBO addresses it for you.’

Today was the first time I’ve been EBO’d.  Not confronting at all.  I’ll check through your pdf file when I get a chance this evening.  I, too, appreciated the professional conversations that were had; who knew we had it in us 🙂

I used the approach today team teaching with Remi in my Year 12 class. While it was much slower with the whole class they did seem to engage and connect well with the material we presented. I will certainly be adding this to my ‘use frequently’ toolbox.

The programme has opened up classrooms, promoted conversations around data, made teachers more reflective, made deficit theorising unacceptable and teacher goal setting more meaningful.

Evidence Based Observations have brought relationships to the forefront with teachers actively planning for opportunities to provide culturally appropriate contexts for students. It has allowed students to bring their own cultural and learning experiences into the classroom.

My EBO coach is exactly that, a coach who is on my side, helping me to use the data collected during the observation to enhance my teaching in a friendly, constructive, reflective way. These sequential observations have encouraged me to harness the power of formative assessment in my classroom, which in turn has increased the creativity, discursiveness and effectiveness of my classes. The fact that my coach is an experienced teacher makes EBOs a collaborative journey: one teacher guiding another rather than an intimidating situation where the teacher is judged and criticised by a visiting ‘expert’- professional development at its best!’

I don’t think I mentioned but when I showed the staff the innovative idea & web page I first acknowledged Brian Simpson for bringing you to us.

Your name is repeated  constantly for planning and is the resource that kicked this off the ground. I will never forget that Lara Meyer  you are my hero. Mereana came up and totally agreed you are a  treasure for our school.

Thank you for the time you spent with me and the students last Thursday. What I deeply appreciated was your willingness to work with the kids  and me as a team; I enjoyed that intensely and so did most of the students. The instant feedback I got was that the students enjoyed what we did immensely.  Most of all what this brings home to me is that instead of just pontificating like many educationalists do with rhetoric, you were willing to do the “hard yards” with me like a soldier and really help teaching.  I have often thought about team teaching and what we did was dynamic.   Both me and the students of Year 11 Science look forward to our next team session in a few weeks time.  Can’t wait now LOL.  Cya then.  🙂

cheers

It has been great working with you in developing a plan for the future. Your blue sky thinking is an inspiration to lead forward. The plan you have put forward is a ground breaking way of finding ways to engage our students to give them a better future by working in context. The plan fits in with the aim of doing something that follows research and not emotion, based on data, to set obtainable goals with a vital action plan.
